Powered by a gas engine and an electric motor, Hybrid electric vehicles were built on the belief that taking the next step into electrification should be simple. Although these vehicles still need to be fueled by gas, they also capture energy via regenerative braking. With two power sources, sometimes the electric motor does all the work, sometimes it's the gas engine, and sometimes they work together.
Think of a plug-in Hybrid as an electric car and a Hybrid rolled into one. It offers the capability of a gas vehicle with the practicality and performance of an electric vehicle. Charge it up when you want to enjoy its all-electric range for quick commutes, or just drive it like a regular hybrid that you can fill up at any gas pump.
